Update Your Airline App Before Your Flight
When you’re in a hurry and see a line of restless passengers standing at the check-in counter, it’s important that your airline’s app is loaded.
Firstly, if you are only traveling with carry-on luggage, you can check in through the app and go to security, without having to wait in that scary line. As we wrote earlier , if you want to be aware of updates regarding your flight (for example, possible delays or boarding times), the application will also provide push notifications so that you do not miss any important changes.
Best of all, if you want to change location, the app is the best place to do it. Depending on the app in question, you can usually find updated seat maps as availability changes at the last minute, which means you can clog this open aisle seat ahead of other desperate passengers. (You can also rebook yourself a new flight through the app if you miss yours entirely.)
But the reason for updating the app is simpler: entertainment. In case you didn’t know, airlines such as United and American offer the same movies and shows in their apps as they do on your entertainment console, which usually requires the most recent version of the app to watch.
Why rely on your phone when your console has all the features you need? Well, airline headphones are known to be awful; You are lucky that you understand any dialogue with a snoring passenger next to you and the sounds of general aircraft noise. This is why this entertainment available on your phone comes in handy.
Let’s say you have a pair of AirPods or wireless headphones (without the appropriate wire to connect to the audio input of your onboard entertainment); obviously they cannot connect via bluetooth to your console. Instead, open a movie on your phone and you can listen to it while snoring a little in the background. Sure, this is probably a smaller screen, depending on the device, but at least you can understand the actual words the actors are speaking.
What’s more, updating the app during a tight connection is also critical. In the app, you can usually find your boarding gate information and boarding times, so you can worry less about finding your gate number in the terminal. Still worried you might miss the connection? Well, this is why you can contact the airline if you are at a loss.
