Meet the New Travel Writer Lifehacker

Hello Lifehacker! I am the new staff writer for Lifehacker and I will be covering travel. I can’t wait to give you tips that I can guarantee you can use because, well, I used them.

Having lived in four countries (Egypt, Poland, China, and the United States) and four states (Maryland, Georgia, New Jersey, and Delaware), I’ve put together a pretty decent travel resume. I loved visiting places outside of where I lived when I worked as a sports TV presenter, and I traveled the country for almost half a decade before accidentally buying a one-way ticket to Cairo, Egypt in 2015. I ‘I am a Sagittarius, so my whole life is to jump out of windows and build a parachute on the way down.

I live a life of travel and this is how you know:

  • I met my husband in Egypt in 2016.
  • I gave birth to a son in Poland.
  • My favorite book is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho (no, not Eat Pray Love ).
  • I have no idea how many countries I’ve been – I just never thought of counting.
  • Wherever I go, I try McDonald’s fries and Starbucks caramel frappuccino. (The jury is: the fries are exactly the same, and there is no better frap than in Paris).

Until a few weeks ago, my husband and I and my three-year-old son lived in Wuhan, China; we went on holiday for Chinese New Year a week before the city closed. As expats, we were moved to Malaysia for over a month and had to leave our belongings and friends. Unfortunately, our history of relocation is still ongoing – we are currently in London. This is a real-life experience that I go through every minute, and I am truly grateful for joining the Lifehacker team at this strange time.

Leave your comments and travel questions in the comments below! Feel free to email me at [email protected] or say hello via Twitter and / or Instagram . It doesn’t matter the timezone, because I’ll be in this or that.
