Where to Find Free Entertainment While the Coronavirus Is Out

Sitting here in a not so sunny California, I’m bored to tears because of the quarantine due to the coronavirus. And while I have video games to keep me entertained and endless work (from home, of course), I was looking for the best way to deal with the solitary conditions that I and many others will have to deal with for a long time. the next few weeks.

I came up with two solutions: webcams and culture. I know this sounds strange. Listen to me.

Great webcams (and more for free)

Of course, you can go on a virtual tour of museums right now, but looking at a painting or sculpture is not as vivid as in the ordinary outside world. Instead, I recommend turning on your webcam on your laptop or desktop screen while you wander around the house or try to get work done. I’d rather look at a jellyfish than a piece of chiseled rock. What about an eagle ? Some elephants ? Dead ends ? Goats ? Penguins ? Your4o1k ? (I’m kidding.) You can watch the free Dropkick Murphys concert on March 17th , as you probably won’t be able to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in any other fun way. You can also listen to Hamilton’s new whimsical song , although that probably won’t help you get through two (or more) weeks of isolation.

You have so many opportunities to watch the world from home that you probably won’t be able to complete them all by the time your quarantine is over. Color the books ! Learn to be Deadmau5 ! Keep your eyes on it and you can find many great ways to enrich your life (or fight boredom) while your local city closes.

Free culture

When it comes to culture, two possibilities come to mind. The Metropolitan Opera is streaming its popular Live in HD performances free of charge from March 16-22. Each performance will be available to watch for 20 hours after its release, so don’t worry if you have plans for the evening. … Shouldn’t you have plans for the evening now?

Full meeting schedule:

  • Monday 16 MarchCarmen Bizet
  • Tuesday 17 MarchPuccini Bohemia
  • Wednesday 18 March – Verdi’s Troubadour
  • Thursday 19 MarchLa Traviata Verdi
  • Friday 20 MarchLa Fille du RĂ©giment Donizetti
  • Saturday 21 MarchLucia di Lammermoor Donizetti
  • Sunday 22 MarchEugene Onegin by Tchaikovsky.

You can also watch the live broadcast of BeethovenNOW: Symphonies 5 & 6, which the Philadelphia Orchestra recorded on March 12 (in an empty concert hall).

There are many more live streams from various orchestras worth watching, and I urge you to take a look at this full schedule ! After all, what’s the use of being alone in your room? Let the music play.
