Here’s Everything New in the Second Edition of the Google Pixel Feature Drop
The second big Pixel Feature Drop comes out this week , adding several new features to each of the Google Pixel phones. Some of the new features have already been spotted in pre- release versions of Android 11 , and some have even leaked a little earlier in unofficial features , but you will get the final versions in this update.
As with the first set of features , the specific features you get will depend on your device. Naturally, the Pixel 4 gets the latest features, but everyone from Pixel 2 and up has, so to speak, a few new tricks added to their tool belt. However, if you’re still wearing the original Pixel or Pixel XL, you won’t get anything – these phones are no longer supported.
Everything included in the second edition of the Pixel Feature Drop
- Dark Mode Official Timers
- Automated “Rules” Android
- Added 169 new smilies
- AR Effects / Filters for Google Duo Calls
- Power button shortcut menu with shortcuts to Google Pay and other apps. Pixel 3, 3a and 4 users can also find screenshots of boarding passes and real-time flight updates in the menu.
Pixel 2 (only)
- Live Caption support
Pixel 4 (only)
- Motion Sense Gesture Playback Controls
- Added “hard press” recognition for long press launcher.
- Improved portrait blur for the front camera.
- Improved adaptive brightness in bright light
- Vehicle crash detection for the UK and Australia (older Pixel phones will also get this feature with Android 11 and you can try out the earlier version right now )
New features are included as part of the March 2020 Android Security Update, and most of them will arrive after the latest update is installed – however, some are still waiting to be enabled by Google. You can check for updates by going to Settings> System> Advanced> System Update.
