Tomorrow Is the Deadline for Receiving Your Direct Deposit Coronavirus Payment
Still waiting for a coronavirus test? You may be able to speed up the process, but you must act quickly: if you want to receive payment by direct transfer, you only have until Wednesday, May 13 at noon (local time) to send your information. You can submit your banking information on the Get My Payment website operated by the IRS. To do this, you need to provide your social security number and date of birth; you may also need to provide information from your most recent tax return.
If you do not provide direct deposit information by noon on May 13th, you will have to wait for a paper check to arrive in the mail. The IRS has sent out about 130 million payments so far, but will switch mostly to paper checks later this month to deliver the remaining incentive payments of up to $ 1,200.
These checks will be delivered based on the adjusted gross income (AGI) shown on your tax return according to this schedule .
The Get My Payment online tool has been running since mid-April, but many people who visited shortly after launch were unable to access it to find out the status of their payment.
If you’re having trouble getting your status or entering your direct deposit information, you may have given up, believing that you will eventually receive a check in the mail. But the IRS has updated its system since the initial deployment of this tool, which means you are less likely to get an error message when you try to access the portal now.
