Waffles Chicken Nuggets for Children
I have nothing to do with kids, but I’ve heard that they like chicken nuggets and that’s the feeling that I like. Breaded little poultry pieces are simple, tasty, and comforting, and more and more I try to stick to simple amenities. (This is called regression! Look!)
The only nitpick I have about chicken nuggets is that they take too long to crunch in the oven. Yes, you can make a combination of kernels in the microwave and then crisp in the oven, but now we’re using multiple devices, which seems like too much work for what should have been simple comforts. especially when the waffle iron is right there (in the closet next to the Instant Pot).
Instead of the 10 or so minutes it takes to preheat the oven, plus the 12-17 minutes it takes to cook the slices to a perfect crisp, just five to seven minutes of a waffle iron is all it takes to turn frozen chicken nuggets into hot crispy nuggets. who are more than ready to dip. (Some might say they are too prepared for dipping! Little wafer depressions were made to hold the sweet and sour sauce!)
As with all frozen foods we make with waffles, you have to be a little (but not very) patient as we squeeze the plates together. Don’t force it. Simply place the pieces in the waffle iron, leaving at least half an inch of space between them (the sides may get wet if they touch). Close the waffle iron, leaving the hotplate in pieces, wait a minute, then press gently. Repeat until the waffle iron is about half an inch from the closed state, then let the nuggets cook until they are golden brown and completely crispy. Serve them to your kids, serve them to your inner child, serve their whiny soulmate. Just make sure you serve them with gravy. (I stock up on McDonald’s Sweet & Sour for such occasions.)
