Manage Stress and Time Management by Throwing the Ball
There is a lot going on right now, which means it can seem especially difficult to manage your time properly. Feeling overwhelmed can lead to stress, and in these uncertain times ( to put it mildly ) it’s easy to feel like you’re drowning in unfinished tasks.
Tiffany Dufoux, author of Throw the Ball: Achieve More with Less and a recent guest at The Upgrade , suggests using this “overwhelmed” feeling to help you determine which tasks are most important to you. We often think of “dropping the ball” as a sign of failure, but Dufoux says it’s just a normal way to weed out tasks that don’t deserve attention.
According to Dufoux, if you feel like there are too many things to do on your plate, first talk to someone who has your best interests at heart. They can offer an outside perspective on what should be prioritized. She also advises using your calendar as a to-do list: if you find yourself literally running out of time on a day, you might want to throw a couple of these balls. Then think about how you want people to remember you. By following these steps (and other tips in the video above), you can spend your time on more important tasks.
