You Have 24 Hours to Get ‘A Total War Saga: Troy’ for Free
I’m a big fan of the Total War franchise, and especially two games – Total War: Warhammer 2 and Total War: Three Kingdoms – are the best of the best. While the latest installment in the franchise, A Total War Saga: Troy , doesn’t quite live up to their level of detail, strategy and chaos, this game has one incredibly appealing quality: it’s free.
At least it’s free if you hurry up and take advantage of today’s offer on the Epic Games Store. To celebrate the release of the game, you can get it at a low price – an offer we can rarely say because who is giving away their game on launch day for free?
The Windows version of the game is due to hit the Epic Games Store at 9:00 AM ET (6:00 AM PT) when the 24-hour countdown begins (Mac users should see their version of the game removed shortly thereafter. and they’ll also have 24 hours to get it for free.)
You can activate a free copy online or the Epic Games downloadable app for Windows or Mac – I prefer the latter – and that’s all you have to do. You don’t need to download and install the game right away; just “buy” it like any other free game on the Epic Games Store. This is the button you are looking for in the list of games:
While launching A Total War Saga: Troy probably won’t completely shutdown the Epic Games Store as happened with the free release of Grand Theft Auto V in mid-May, I would recommend activating your copy sooner rather than later (just in case).
Also, the version you get tomorrow does not include multiplayer. You’ll get this for free too, but it will appear as part of a larger update later this year. Quarantine life can be blamed for this. And hey, this will give you enough time to practice your Total War formations, cavalry attacks, and all the other tactics you need to avoid getting trampled by the computer or your friends.
