Get the Witcher: Enhanced Edition PC Game Free Today
I’ll spare you the obvious coin-tossing joke to Geralt of Rivia, because only today can you chat with everyone’s favorite freelance monster hunter without paying a dime. The PC game that started it all – leading us along the incredible fantasy path that led us to this awesome bardic hit – is free to play.
There are only two caveats in this deal, and both are easy to manage. First, you need a free GOG.com account. It only takes five minutes to set up and is well worth it for the occasional free games and the generally decent offerings you’ll find in legacy games that have been tuned to run smoothly on modern PCs.
Secondly, you have to come to terms with the fact that you are getting the very first Witcher game ever made. Yes, this is a 2007 game, so the graphics and gameplay will not be as bright and vibrant as in the latest game in the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt franchise .
However, there is one positive side. The technically free offer refers to an improved version of the game, a remake that launched a year later that had a lot of additional monsters to kill, a bunch of graphical fixes, two completely new adventures, and the ability to mix and match languages. for subtitles and game voices. You see, playing The Witcher is basically like the more fun monster-killing version of Duolingo.
Talking about The Witcher gives me a reason to post some incredible trailers for the CD Projeckt Red franchise – almost indistinguishable from Blizzard’s work in storytelling and visual appeal, I would say.
I wouldn’t say I was very shocked by the first trailer for The Witcher , but the trailer for the sequel, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings , is probably one of my favorites:
Quite frankly, the gameplay across the various Witcher games tends to follow a similar pattern, so I don’t feel the least bit bad about posting trailers that showcase a much nicer version of what you’ll be doing on your adventures in the ghostly named Continent.
You will have until 6:00 pm ET to get your free copy of The Witcher on GOG.com in a one-day deal. I wouldn’t mess around. However, if you miss, the game usually only costs $ 10. It’s not the biggest savings we’ve ever seen to play, but free is free. Considering how many hours you will immerse yourself in The Witcher (and its sequels) and how many more months we will all be stuck at home thanks to COVID-19, I think the journey through the expansive role-playing game will be exactly what you need right now.
And while you are doing this, be sure to install a third-party mod (or several) to make this old game look and work even better.
