Wake up With Siri Voice Cursing at You
I am not the type to wake up easily , but over the years I have found that waking up is, unfortunately, necessary to start the day. I’ve played around with wicked alarm clock apps and assorted snooze buttons in the garden, but just recently I found the game is a game changer: you can get Siri’s voice to tell you to fucking wake up .
To do this, you’ll need the paid version of Alarmy, which costs $ 4.99 per month with a 7-day free trial. (I’m using an iPhone, but the app also exists on Android.) The setting you want is a little hidden: set an alarm, then scroll down to find these two settings:
- In the Show advanced options section, find the label and enter the text you want to read.
- In the Sound section, click Sound Power Supply . Click on that and you can turn on Time Pressure .
Once you do this, the voice will read the date and time as well as the alarm label every minute until you turn off the alarm.
I found out about this tip on Reddit where the poster said they had an alarm clock that said “wake up, damn it.” They are delighted: “As a person who lives alone, hearing a voice so early in the morning scares me a little, so it will definitely wake me up, ha ha.”
To give myself an extra dose of anxiety, I decided to include my name on the label as well. It sounds like this:
Once you’ve set it up, check out some of Alarmy’s other features, including setting up where you can get up and take a photo of your toilet . For a smoother transition, I prefer a mission in which you need to accurately type in a few of the motivating statements it gives. Anyway, I’m awake now.
