How to Get Your Free Copy of Ubisoft ‘The Division’ for Windows
While you probably won’t get much fun playing the multiplayer aspects of the game since everyone has probably already switched to The Division 2 , Ubisoft’s 2016 solo first-person shooter campaign The Division is still worth spending, especially for the low price of free.
And what better way to spend your luxurious three-day weekend in isolation than to start a new game, right? Ubisoft’s free offer is only valid until September 8th, so you’ll have plenty of time to purchase your free copy. You don’t even need to play it right now if you are busy doing something; add it to your Uplay account and The Division will be waiting for you whenever you want to download it.
To get started, visit the Ubisoft website anytime before 1:00 (your local time) on September 8th. Click on the large box labeled “PC” to begin the activation process, which will require you to have (and log in with) your Uplay account. If you don’t have it, it costs nothing to install – you’re not signing up for a subscription service or anything like that.
Once you have done that, you will see this screen:
Boom. Free game purchased; it is so simple. You should now be able to launch Uplay, if installed on your system, to install and play The Division . Otherwise, you’ll have to go through a slightly longer installation and setup process for the Ubisoft Digital Download Service. It’s not difficult, trust me.
If you are an Xbox Live Gold, you can also get a copy of The Division within the monthly program Games with Gold. Your progress between the two versions won’t sync and you won’t be able to play with PC players from your Xbox (or vice versa). I just thought I’d bring it up in case you are one of those people – like me – who always want to add free stuff to our game library.
By the way, Into the Breach is free on the Epic Games Store right now and you should get it too.
