Pull the Sheet Correctly the First Time Each Time

There are two absolute certainties in my life: I can never insert a USB stick correctly the first time, and I always have to rotate the fitted sheet at least once before I can attach it to all four corners. my mattress. But recently I came up with a solution to this problem, inspired by bedding designed for toddlers. (No, I’m not proud.) My youngest child no longer uses a crib, but his bed still accommodates a smaller mattress. Since these items aren’t much wider than their height, many companies label the top and sides of the fitted bed sheets so you don’t have to puzzle over which is which while making the bed. I have enjoyed this benefit of making a baby bed for years, but it just occurred to me that I could easily replicate it on my adult size sheets.

To do this, I bought a cheap cloth pen and wrote “top” and “sides” in the appropriate places on my king sheets (queen beds are correct than king beds; the latter mattresses are just mattresses). much closer to the square). As the name suggests, fabric handles are designed to mark fabrics to keep them from dripping or slipping out of the wash. Of course, both of these things can and probably will – of course, the ink on the fabric will disappear on repeated washing – but as long as you write next to the elastic around the edges of the sheet, this part should be tucked under the mattress, so it will not be visible, even if a little the amount of material will flow out onto the outer surface.

Some adult fitted sheets do include top / side marks (this seems to be the more common cheaper, shapeless, knitted bedding type sets), and I read elsewhere that you can also orient the sheet correctly by placing marks at the bottom right corner – but not all of my fitted sheets have tags, or at least the tags were removed or torn off during their weekly wash. However, when combined with this helpful trick for keeping the corners of the stretched sheet from falling out while you make the bed , my weekly laundry tasks just got a lot easier. If only I could learn how to stack these damn things .
