Contact Sony As Soon As Possible to Get VR on Your PlayStation 5
Whether you are looking to explore virtual worlds for the first time, or are the proud owner of a PlayStation VR headset and want to play on your new PlayStation 5 console, you have little work to do. Right now, your PS VR headset won’t work with the next generation Sony machine, but you can fix your problem without paying for it.

To play VR on your PS5, you’ll need a critical connector that allows you to connect your PlayStation 4 camera to your PlayStation 5. This is a special “ camera adapter ” that Sony offers to all PlayStation VR owners for free – yes, including free shipping.
To get one of them, please submit your request via the official Sony form . You will need your PlayStation VR serial number to verify that you own the device, which you can find as follows:
Check the back of your PS VR processor for a serial number that starts with the letter C, M, or P depending on your region.
If you are having trouble verifying this number, you will need to contact PlayStation Support for assistance. Don’t waste your time: getting an adapter is very important because it is not included with your PlayStation 5 by default. Sony plans to start shipping them in mid-November (for the US), and yours could take up to two weeks to arrive.
How to start playing VR games on PS5 if you’re a beginner
First, and most obviously, you’ll need a PlayStation VR headset to experience VR on your PlayStation 5. Buy one of the many packages Sony currently offers and you should have ( almost ) all the gear you need, starting with about $ 350.
Otherwise, if you purchase (or have previously purchased) a “base system” that just gives you a headset for about $ 290, you will need to make some more shopping. As Sony recently reported, you will need the following items to use your PlayStation VR headset on your PlayStation 5 console:
- DualShock 4 controller ($ 65) or PlayStation Move ($ 100) – or perhaps both, depending on which games each controller supports. For the full VR experience – waving your arms to interact with the environment – you’ll want to spend on the latter.
- PlayStation 4 camera ($ 60). Yes, the PlayStation 5 will have its own improved camera. You will not be able to use it for PlayStation VR games. To do this, you’ll need an old PlayStation 4 camera, which, if I’m right, you’ll have to swap out for a connected PS5 camera whenever you want to play VR.
In other words, do not install piece by piece if you have a choice. Buy the kit first and you save $ 160 and get the game on a bargain basis.
