How to Measure Height With IPhone 12 Pro
LiDAR senor in iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max supports all kinds of interesting camera functions, such as determining the size of a room or turning real objects into 3D models. It’s also incredibly useful for measuring height from a distance.
The new feature is part of the iOS Measure app. The app is available on devices running iOS 12 or higher, but human height detection is only available on the iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and iPad Pro (2020 model) as only these three devices have the required LiDAR sensors. for taking measurements.
How to Measure Someone Using Your iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, or iPad Pro (2020)
- Open the Measure app. (You will be prompted to install Apple’s ARKit if this is your first time doing this. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation).
- Align the person in the camera’s viewfinder and do not move while the LiDAR sensor is doing its job. For best results, try to keep your device as level as possible.
- After a few seconds, the (approximate) height of the person will appear on the screen above his head.
- Press the shutter button to take the picture at the specified size.
Measuring height is a simple process, but don’t throw away the measuring tape just yet: the iOS measurement app isn’t always accurate , and some early reports show height measurement is equally uneven.
This is not surprising – many environment variables can affect the accuracy of an application, even with additional LiDAR assistance. However, the general consensus is that app height measurement is “close enough” that it will likely get better when Apple updates the Measure app over time.
