This Powerful Portable Power Station Is Now on Sale for $550.
DJI may be best known for its drones and photography gear, but it’s also expanding its range of portable power sources, and the Power 2000 is its most powerful standalone power station to date. Essentially, it’s a large rechargeable battery designed to provide power wherever you need it: on a camping trip, at a construction site, while watching an outdoor movie, or at home during a power outage. And if you were considering the Power 2000 for any of these situations, it’s now priced at $749.99 from its original $1,299—almost $550 cheaper than what would otherwise be a rather expensive purchase.
It’s about the size of a carry-on suitcase and weighs around 23 kg, so it’s unlikely to be strapped to your back, but it fits easily in the trunk of a car. The battery itself is designed for a long lifespan, withstanding 4,000 charge cycles before noticeable capacity loss. As for performance, DJI claims its 2048 Wh capacity can power a refrigerator for up to 40 hours during a power outage, charge a laptop 18 times, or power a projector for 18 hours. These figures are in line with expectations for a device of this size, making it useful both in emergency situations and for casual outdoor use.
You also get a solid selection of ports—three AC outlets, a 30-amp port for more powerful devices or RV gear, multiple USB-C ports (including a 140W option for laptops), and DJI’s proprietary SDC ports for direct drone charging. If you’re using DJI gear, this alone makes life in the field much easier, as noted in a Mashable review . Charging is also fast for a battery of this size. When plugged into a power outlet, it can go from empty to full in about 90 minutes. You can also charge it via solar panels or your car, making it convenient for long trips. Rounding out the features is a companion app that lets you check the battery level from your phone without having to go near the device—a small but very handy feature. Note that this device lacks a built-in light, which many competing portable charging stations have.
