How to Export Arc Data to a New Browser

If you’ve been a loyal Arc browser user, it’s finally time to say goodbye. The Browser Company suspended Arc development in 2025, continuing only with security updates. As announced late last week, Arc will officially end support on December 22, 2026, giving users two months to migrate their data to an alternative service.
One option is to switch to the company’s new AI-focused Dia browser , although there are other (potentially better) options depending on your needs. Most of your Arc data, including Spaces, Favorites, pinned tabs and folders, as well as passwords, bookmarks, extensions, and history, will migrate automatically to Dia, but if you’re switching to an entirely different platform, you’ll need to migrate all your data by December 22.
How to export Arc data to a new browser
Arc officially only supports exporting spaces and tabs , and the resulting Export.md text file is simply a list of links that can be opened and bookmarked in the new browser. MacOS users can initiate this process via Arc > Preferences > Advanced > Export Data and save the file to the desired location. On Windows, open the Arc menu, select Preferences , and go to Export Spaces and Tabs > Export Data .
To simply copy and paste all links from a single folder, right-click the folder, select “Copy All Links,” and paste them wherever you like (on macOS, select “Copy All Links as Markdown” to preserve the link titles). You can also save Easels images by clicking the Share icon > “Share via…” and selecting PNG .
There’s no formal process for exporting data from Arc. If you’ve saved credentials in Arc, now’s the time to start migrating them to another platform. (Our top password managers aren’t tied to any one browser.)
There are several alternatives to Arc’s official export process, which is largely manual and doesn’t preserve the folder structure. Several third-party (free) scripts are available that can simplify the transition, as well as a paid ArcEscape extension that allows you to export folders and pinned tabs and import them into another browser. The extension is available for Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, and Firefox. According to Arc’s FAQ, all user accounts will be deactivated on December 22, and personal data will be deleted within 30 days of deactivation.
