The Amazon Fire TV Soundbar costs $79.99 (previously $119.99), making it the most affordable option in the lineup for those looking to upgrade from TV speakers to something higher-quality for everyday viewing. It’s a 24-inch, dual-channel soundbar that supports DTS Virtual:X and Dolby Audio, though it lacks Dolby Atmos or a separate subwoofer. The Amazon Fire TV Soundbar Plus has been reduced from $249.99 to $144.99. For the extra money over the base model, you get a dedicated center channel for improved dialogue clarity, a built-in subwoofer, and support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. However, it lacks upward-firing speakers, so the Atmos effect is mostly horizontal, but the center channel does a really good job of clearing up muffled dialogue in big-budget series. At $95 more than the discounted Soundbar Plus, it’s an option I’d consider if richer bass is a priority. Keep in mind that it doesn’t add rear speakers, so you’ll still be getting a 3.1-channel system with sound focused in front of you.

It’s a full 5.1 setup, adding two rear speakers to the 3.1 soundbar and wireless subwoofer, so action scenes and other surround sound effects will come not only from the TV but also from behind you. However, it’s $150 more expensive than the discounted soundbar and subwoofer package, so consider how much surround sound you need. Also, although the rear speakers connect wirelessly to the soundbar, each still requires a power outlet.
