The Release Date for IOS 27 Has Finally Been Announced.

Apple’s September event was a massive undertaking. The company announced the new iPhone 18 Pro , Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, AirPods 5, and the foldable iPhone Duo . While the company certainly highlighted a multitude of software features for each of these devices, including some previously unseen health tracking features for the Apple Watch , it was largely a hardware-focused event. This, of course, is unsurprising: Apple reserves the vast majority of its software announcements for WWDC in June. Despite this, the September keynote did drop one particularly important piece of news: the iOS 27 release date.

Since Apple is using iOS 27 to promote many features of its upcoming devices, it’s only logical that the company would need to provide an estimated release date for the update. After all, the iPhone 18 Pro launches on Friday, September 18, with iOS 27 already installed. The update should presumably be available by then, unless Apple was planning to make iPhone 18 Pro users the first to receive the software. (Spoiler: it wasn’t.)

It so happened that the company officially announced the update’s release date, although it didn’t actively promote it. At the end of its news releases dedicated to new product announcements, the company confirmed that iOS 27 would be released on Monday, September 14. Developers had been testing the iOS 27 beta since June, and Apple opened the public beta a month later . Since then, volunteers have been testing new Apple features, including Siri AI, new image editing tools, and dual-capture during FaceTime calls.

Apple also confirmed that watchOS 27 will be released on September 14. However, it’s unclear at this time whether other Apple software updates, such as macOS 27 Golden Gate and iPadOS 27, will also be released at the same time. If I had to guess, I’d say these updates will be released at the same time, especially iPadOS 27, but we’ll have to wait for confirmation from Apple to know for sure.

However, some features are only available on certain iPhone models. Apple Intelligence (including Siri AI) is only available on the iPhone 15 Pro and later. Some AI features, such as Siri voice customization, are only available on the iPhone 17 Pro and later, including the iPhone Air.
