10 TV Shows Like Ride or Die You Should Watch Next Time

Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham make a compelling duo in the Prime Video series Faithful or Fatal , where Spencer plays Debbie, the American wife of a British MP, and Waddingham plays Judith, her best friend, who, as it turns out, is also an elite and highly trained assassin. Which is a good thing, because Debbie’s marriage puts her in mortal danger almost from the start. It’s a pretty impressively funny action series, and while not all similar series employ the same comedic techniques, they all feature women in very difficult situations.

Good Girls (2018–2021)

Beth, Ruby, and Annie (Christina Hendricks, Retta, and Mae Whitman, respectively) are three mothers in suburban Michigan, all struggling financially. They’re no criminal masterminds, so they hatch a plan to rob a local grocery store to solve the problem—a store that, coincidentally, serves as a front for a money-laundering operation. They steal $500,000, but the gang leader whose money they unknowingly stole wants it back. Oh, and the store manager has spotted one of their signature tattoos and threatens to blackmail them. It’s definitely not a sitcom, but it’s a solid comedy-drama with a talented cast whose characters get into increasingly deeper trouble over the course of four seasons.Watch Good Girls on Netflix .

How to Get to Heaven from Belfast (2026 – )

How to Get to Heaven from Belfast is created by Irish playwright and Derry Girls author Lisa McGee, though that earlier and deservedly beloved show will only partially prepare you for this installment. Three high school friends from Belfast reunite after learning of the unexpected death of their fourth best friend—though perhaps she’s not dead, which is a mixed blessing, considering they all have life-destroying secrets they hoped to bury. Now they set out to investigate a suspected murder and find themselves embroiled in a complex web of secrets and old vendettas, rife with murder and a remarkable amount of chaos. The series’ tone constantly shifts, but somehow it works, and beneath the absolute chaos lies a living heart.Watch How to Get to Heaven from Belfast on Netflix .

Furious (2026–)

This crime thriller is based on the 1987 film Black Widow, starring Debra Winger and Theresa Russell. While that film was a stylish but rather formulaic neo-noir, the series adds depth and complexity to the two women at its core: Emmy Rossum plays FBI agent Alice Black, and Lola Pettigrew plays her partner, serial killer Katherine Grace. In this version, Katherine is sicker, more cunning, and more interesting, especially after her motives are revealed. Both leads have received rave reviews, and while the series is much less comedic than Stand or Dare , it offers similar thriller elements, albeit with a darker edge. Watch Fury on Hulu .

Nikita (2010–2013)

If you’re interested in a female assassin, Nikita is one of the best in pop culture: it’s just the latest iteration of Luc Besson’s 1990 film Nikita, which has spawned three films and two TV series (an earlier Canadian series is also quite good). In this film, Maggie Q plays Nikita—she, Black Widow- style, was raised to be the perfect killing machine working for the US government’s shadowy black-ops unit, Division—but she fell in love with a man who Division later executed and now seeks revenge. She plans to overthrow her former masters, and she’s aided by her own agent: Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca), a young woman Nikita rescued and who now serves as her very useful mole. Watch Nikita on Tubi .

Killing Eve (2018–2022)

Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer star as the two leads in the hit television series, which features women playing a game of cat and mouse. Oh plays Eve Polastri, a bored MI5 analyst who becomes obsessed with finding the ruthless and infamous assassin known only as Villanelle. At first, it’s a professional obsession, then it becomes personal, and soon it becomes clear the passion is mutual. It’s more of a spy thriller than an action comedy, but the plot, centered on a captivating relationship, feels light and airy. Watch Killing Eve on Paramount+ .

Dead to Me (2019–2022)

Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini create another great TV duo in this dark comedy about two women brought together by tragedy and lies. Applegate plays Jen Harding, a realtor whose husband is killed in a hit-and-run accident; she’s deeply troubled by the incident and draws inspiration from Judy Cardellini, who maintained her cheerful disposition after the death of her fiancé, Steve, from a heart attack—which would have been easier, given that Steve is alive. Then we learn that Judy owns a storage unit with a car suspiciously similar to the one that hit Jen’s husband. It all happens in the first episode, and the series only gets crazier from there.Watch Dead to Me on Netflix.

Cleo (2022 – )

This German series is a Cold War-era spy thriller interspersed with moments of very dark (but very funny) comedy. Jella Haase plays Cleo Straub, a ruthless East German Stasi assassin who was framed for treason a couple of years before the series begins in 1989 and is now free to exact brutal revenge. Sven Petzold (Dimitri Schaad), meanwhile, is a hapless cop who links Cleo to a murder he was investigating and pursues her until he realizes he’s in a very difficult situation.Watch Cleo on Netflix .

Black Doves (2024 – )

This film, which combines elements of various genres, became a real hit for Netflix—so much so that it was renewed for a second season. Keira Knightley plays Helen Webb, the wife of the British Secretary of Defense and a secret spy working for the eponymous spy ring. She learns from her handler (Sarah Lancashire) that her lover has been murdered, potentially exposing her identity, but luckily, she has a hitman best friend (Ben Wislaw) to help her. The whole thing is intentionally filmed in a pulp style, with a wry, self-deprecating undertone that softens the tone.Watch Black Doves on Netflix.

Road to the Cemetery (2025 – )

This series leans more toward the spy genre, starring Emma Thompson as private investigator Zoe Boehm, a hard-drinking, free-spirited woman who is hired by Sarah Trafford, a married art restorer played by Ruth Wilson. No one takes her seriously (including and especially her husband), even when she begins investigating the fate of a young girl whose family was (presumably) killed in a nearby gas explosion. The girl, whose parents were killed, disappears, and no one seems to care until Sarah hires Zoe and her husband to investigate. It turns out that both women have gone too far, as the missing girl points to a much larger conspiracy. The villains in the series are a bit cartoonish and distracting, but Thompson and Wilson are brilliant as a pair, and their performances more than make up for the price of admission. Flight attendant (2020–2022)

Sleazy flight attendant Cassie Bowden (Kaley Cuoco) drinks too much and is undiscriminating in the men she sleeps with—both traits backfire when she wakes up in a Bangkok hotel room with a corpse whose neck has been slit. Clumsily trying to cover up her involvement (she can’t quite remember), she quickly becomes embroiled in a larger conspiracy that extends far beyond a single victim. Her best friend, Annie (Zosia Mamet), is a lawyer who tries her best to help her, but Cassie isn’t making it easy. Watch “The Flight Attendant” on HBO Max.
