Last week, the second round of Lifehacker’s “Big Guess” game concluded. The game asked readers to make predictions about what products and features Apple might announce this year for a chance to win the latest Apple Watch. While the answers to these questions won’t be revealed until Apple’s September event, the results are already in. Check out what Lifehacker readers think Apple will announce this year, and come back on August 18th for the final round.
What will Apple name its foldable iPhone?
Apple will almost certainly unveil its first foldable iPhone at WWDC this year. The big question that remains is what the company will call it. Lifehacker asked readers to choose one of four options: iPhone 18 Fold, iPhone Fold, iPhone Ultra, or none of them. While iPhone Ultra was the most popular choice (30% of readers chose it), slightly more respondents believe Apple will choose a different name. We’ll see who’s right in a little over a month.
If Apple announces a foldable iPhone, how much will it cost?
Apple devices are notoriously expensive, and their prices continue to rise . So it’s only logical that Apple’s most sophisticated and feature-rich iPhone will also be its most expensive. Nearly a quarter of Lifehacker respondents believe the price will be somewhere between $1,000 and $1,499, while another quarter believe it will be between $1,500 and $1,999. However, a full 41% believe it will cost over $2,000. Personally, I think this is a reasonable assumption, given the product and the current market situation.
Will Apple Reduce the Size of the Dynamic Display on the iPhone 18 Pro?
The iPhone 18 Pro will likely give way to Apple’s foldable iPhone and, as a result, will be only a slight improvement over the iPhone 17 Pro. However, rumors suggest Apple will reduce the size of the “Dynamic Island” on the 18 Pro to make it less noticeable when looking at the display. Just under 43% of respondents don’t believe this, while just over 57% do. While it would be great to have as small a camera cutout as possible, for a truly “screen-only” iPhone, I consider the “Dynamic Island” useful, and I’m not sure reducing it will improve the situation.
Will Apple Watch get body temperature tracking?
While the Apple Watch Series 11 candetect wrist temperature , Apple is also upgrading the health sensors in its wearables. Therefore, it’s possible that the next generation of Apple Watch will be able to measure whole-body temperature, eliminating the need for separate thermometers. While nearly 18% believe this won’t happen, over 82% are confident.
Will Apple release new AirPods with cameras?
One AirPods rumor that’s been circulating for years is that Apple is working on embedding cameras in its earbuds . While it may sound outlandish, the concept actually makes sense : Apple would use these cameras not to take photos, but to allow Siri AI to see the world around you. This could turn your AirPods into AI devices, eliminating the need to pull out your iPhone every time you want to ask the assistant a visual question. However, most Lifehacker readers don’t think Apple will do this, including over 68% of respondents. It remains to be seen what Apple decides.
