The Galaxy Z Flip8 doesn’t bring any significant changes.
If you were expecting something new and shiny from the Z Flip 8, you might be disappointed—it’s not much different from the Z Flip 7. It has a 4.1-inch external display and a 6.9-inch internal display, 12GB of RAM, and cameras similar to the Z Flip 7, including a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and 10x digital zoom. Improvements over the previous model include a 1,000-nit higher peak brightness, now reaching 2,600 nits; a new 2x optical zoom; and a processor upgraded from the Exynos 2500.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a new device.
As Senior Tech Editor Jake Peterson notes, the Z Fold 8 isn’t an improved version of the Z Fold 7: it’s an entirely new device that could appeal to users looking for a phablet that takes up less space in their pockets. The device is expected to feature a 5.5-inch external display, a 7.6-inch internal display, three rear cameras (50-megapixel wide-angle, 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle, and 2x optical zoom), and the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip as the rest of the Z 8 series.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
