The Prices of These 15 Apple Products Have Not yet Increased.

Yesterday was a bad day for anyone looking to buy a new Apple product. Following outgoing CEO Tim Cook’s cryptic announcement earlier this month, Apple officially raised prices on a number of devices . And these were significant increases: most Macs went up by $200-$500 overnight, and many iPads by $100-$200. Even Apple’s “budget” laptop, the MacBook Neo, jumped nearly 17% to $699. This computer, released just three months ago at $599, even offered an additional $100 off thanks to a student discount program. Now its price is on par with some used MacBook Airs .

Apple’s most popular products aren’t the only ones that have gone up in price. Apple TV now costs $200 instead of $129; HomePod is $349 instead of $299, and HomePod mini is $129 instead of $99; and the Vision Pro now starts at $3,699, making it even more attractive to buyers than before.

While Apple is clearly concerned about protecting its profits, the company didn’t simply decide it needed more money. The rationale for these increases is the same as that of every other company that has raised prices in recent months : a global memory shortage is making all computer components more expensive, to the point that companies feel they can’t continue operating without drastically raising their suggested retail prices. Sony raised the price of the PS5 , as did Nintendo for the Switch 2. Acer, Dell, and Microsoft have raised the prices of some computers and laptops. If a device is powered by any chip, it likely costs more now than it did last year, or will cost more soon.

Furthermore, it appears Apple hasn’t raised prices on its accessories, such as iPhone cases or Magic Keyboards. If you were planning to turn your iPad into a laptop or add a MagSafe accessory to your iPhone, you’ll pay the same price today as you would have on Wednesday.

What do you think at the moment?

Why did Apple keep the same price for these products?

The short answer? We don’t know. Apple’s limited comments about the price hike specifically mention the iPad and Mac, not the iPhone or other company products. After all, the iPhone and Apple Watch still use the same components, including RAM, as the Mac and iPad—and yet their prices remain the same. Still, we can speculate about the company’s rationale.

The most likely factor influencing this decision is the iPhone 18. Apple will almost certainly announce a new iPhone lineup during its major fall event in September, and when it does, it will likely announce a price increase over the previous iPhone generation. It may be advantageous for the company to maintain current iPhone prices for the next three months to entice users to buy iPhones (and watches) before the next generation is released. It could then introduce a new round of price increases for buyers looking to upgrade to the new iPhone. Last week, The Wall Street Journal estimated the iPhone 18’s price at $1,299, while Bloomberg’s Mark Ghuman suggested the rumoured foldable iPhone could cost over $2,000.

Will this price increase also apply to the Apple Watch Series 12? Possibly. Apple will likely follow the same strategy for the next Apple Watch series as it did for the iPhone, but we can’t know for sure. The only thing we do know is that if you see a great deal on an Apple device you’re considering, it’s best to take advantage of it as soon as possible.
