This year, Walmart isn’t going to let Amazon’s Prime Day sales slide. The retailer announced plans for Walmart Summer Deals , which will begin the day before Amazon’s big annual sale. Walmart also held a major sale alongside last year’s Prime Day—it seems the competition between mega-retailers and Amazon has become as much of a tradition as Prime Day itself. Walmart’s Summer Sale is Walmart’s answer to Amazon’s Prime Day. It’s a sale both in stores and online, with great deals on most Walmart products (excluding groceries). While the name may vary slightly from year to year, Walmart holds a big sale every year around the same time as Prime Day.
When does Walmart’s summer sale start?
The Walmart Summer Deals sale begins Monday, June 22, at 12:00 AM ET for Walmart+ members (the day before Prime Day begins at 3:00 AM on Tuesday, June 23). For the first 24 hours, a curated list of “in-demand items at discounted prices” will be available online. Essentially, this means Walmart+ members will have priority access to these exclusive deals. The general sale begins June 23 at 12:00 AM ET and runs through June 28.
Do you need to be a Walmart+ member to shop during Walmart’s summer sales?
You don’t need to be a Walmart+ subscriber to participate in the Walmart Summer Deals. However, if you are, you’ll get early access to the sale, which begins Monday, June 22, at 12:00 AM ET. You can sign up for a free 30-day Walmart+ subscription or purchase an annual plan for $98 (or $12.95 per month).

Walmart says the sale will cover a wide range of categories, including discounts on electronics, apparel, toys, collectibles, furniture, skincare, and more—similar to last year’s offers .
