The New MacBook Air M5 Is Now $200 Off.

The latest MacBook Air with the M5 processor was released in March, and it’s already on sale at a significant discount on Amazon—both the base 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models are now $200 off. Considering Apple raised the price (and base storage) this year, the $200 discount is quite significant. The 13-inch MacBook Air now costs $899; the 15-inch is available for $1,099, the lowest price we’ve seen to date.

The M5 is Apple’s 2026 update to the popular MacBook lineup, and was previously Apple’s cheapest MacBook (until the MacBook Neo ). While the MacBook Neo is adequate for web browsing and light tasks, the MacBook Air with its M5 processor offers significantly better performance and some nice extra features. The Neo is powered by the iPhone’s A18 Pro chip—the M5 chip in the MacBook Air is a beast by comparison.

The Air features Apple’s latest M5 chip with a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU. It also has a built-in 16-core Neural Processing Unit (NPU), designed specifically to accelerate local AI tasks. Compared to the Neo, the Air also has twice the RAM (16GB vs. 8GB) and storage (512GB vs. 256GB). The Neo only has USB-C ports, while the Air has Thunderbolt 4 ports. The Air has a backlit keyboard, which the Neo lacks. The Air also features the latest 12-megapixel CenterStage camera, while the Neo has an older 1080p FaceTime camera. The Air has a longer battery life than the Neo (18 hours vs. 16 hours), and importantly, it supports fast charging (up to 50% in 30 minutes) and MagSafe.

The base MacBook Air comes with a 13.6-inch or 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display, depending on the model (with True Tone and P3 Wide Color Gamut support, which the Neo lacks). If you plan to work with dozens of Chrome tabs, multiple apps, light photo/video editing, and video calls, the Air is worth the extra few hundred dollars. And with this sale, the price difference between the two models is $300 instead of $500.

In its review, PCMag gave the M5-equipped MacBook Air an “Excellent” rating and an Editor’s Choice award, noting that “the M5 processor… delivers even faster and more efficient performance than before, easily outperforming many PC-based notebooks in its price range.”
