Essentially, the Nitro Deck addresses one of the most common Nintendo Switch issues: Joy-Con stick drift. But it’s not a traditional controller—it’s a full-size enclosure that fits your Nintendo Switch and locks into place with a simple latch system that provides a secure fit without causing discomfort. Once installed, it feels more like a real controller with a screen attached—the grips are thicker and shaped more like those on standard console controllers, giving your hands something to rest on instead of the Joy-Con. The sticks are full-sized, the triggers have more travel, and the back has four assignable buttons for those who like customizing their controls.
You still get motion controls and rumble, as well as a USB-C pass-through port for charging or video output. However, the right thumbstick is positioned a bit too far away, so using it for camera control or aiming can feel cramped and a bit awkward. While this is tolerable for short gaming sessions, it can become uncomfortable over time. The kickstand is also limited—it works, but doesn’t offer much flexibility in terms of mounting the system. And since everything is built into a single chassis, you lose the ability to completely detach the controllers, which is what makes the Switch unique. And while the extra bulk improves grip, it does make the system less portable. Still, if you primarily play handheld and want something more durable with drift-resistant thumbsticks, the Nitro Deck is a great choice, especially at this reduced price.
