Games That Helped Us Get Through 2020

I had high hopes for 2020, if only because this year sounded on paper: twenty twenty . But as we all know, this year has been a dumpster fire over any number of distinct categories: politics, treating others as equals, accepting inconveniences to keep others from getting sick, and so on. Add to that the quarantine, which (rightfully) encouraged us not to spend time with those we care about, and for most of the year life seemed brutally bleak .

In addition to signing up for a wine club, two handfuls of games that I played myself, with random internet strangers, or in one of the countless Zoom video chats I’ve sat in this year helped to break out of the mud, in addition to signing up for a wine club. I wouldn’t consider this to be an exhaustive list of the Best Games of 2020, rather, these are the games that helped me stay sane this year, and that’s enough in my book. I hope they bring you the same joy in 2021.
