CES 2026: This Laptop Can Nod Its Head in Agreement or Disagreement When You Ask It a Question.

Typically, a laptop’s screen can be opened and closed, and that’s it. But Lenovo’s latest laptop, unveiled at CES 2026, can also swivel, open and close, transform into a tablet, and even talk to you.

All this is made possible by a small motorized hinge between the screen and keyboard, giving the laptop a full, autonomous 360-degree rotation. This is an evolution of the previous concept laptop , which is now finally coming to market as the ThinkBook Plus Gen 7 Auto Twist.

The idea is obviously to add a touch of cool—you can double-tap the laptop lid to open it—but there’s also a practical application. During a video call, you can walk in front of the laptop, and the screen will track your movements, ensuring you stay centered in the webcam’s frame. And yes, you can set the screen to track just you, or anyone else who happens to be in front of it.

Lenovo is also developing a universal chatbot, ChatGPT, for it, but it’s not ready for launch yet. A pair of big, cute eyes will appear on the screen, and the laptop will know to nod the screen if the chatbot says something positive, or to shake it from side to side if it says something negative.

The catch with all of this is that the motor is quite noisy, so I probably wouldn’t use it very often in a crowded office – but it’s nice to see one of these concepts actually make it to market.

What do you think at the moment?

This is the second time Lenovo has brought one of these striking new designs to life, following the company’s ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable convertible laptop unveiled at last year’s CES . It’s also clear the company isn’t stopping there—I saw the new version of the convertible laptop with Auto Twist, and while it’s still just a concept, it’s more compact than the Lenovo-released model and can display important performance information on the lid.

As a computer, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 7 Auto Twist should also be quite powerful. It will feature the latest Intel Core Ultra processors, up to 32GB of RAM, up to 2TB of storage, and a 14-inch OLED display. Aside from the extra features, it’s a workstation in every sense.

While these features will set you back a pretty penny, it appears the auto-twist feature won’t significantly increase the price. The ThinkBook Plus Gen 7 Auto Twist laptop will be available in June 2026, starting at $1,649. This represents a significant savings compared to other Lenovo laptops without the auto-twist feature announced at CES, such as the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon, which has similar specs but is slightly more AI-focused and features a more premium chassis. This laptop will be available in March, starting at $1,999.
