This MacOS App Makes It Easier to View (and Use) Keyboard Shortcuts.

Using keyboard shortcuts is much faster than clicking through menus, but only after you’ve mastered them. That’s the hard part.
You can check the app’s documentation or explore the menu bar, but if you’re on a Mac, you can simply install KeyClu . This free app displays an overlay with all the keyboard shortcuts for the currently open Mac app, which is very useful for anyone wanting to master the keyboard.
First, install the app. Then you’ll need to select a trigger key (essentially one of the modifier keys on your keyboard). By default, you need to press the key twice and hold it the second time to activate the overlay, but you can configure the app to simply press and hold the key. I chose to press and hold the Command key.
After this, you’ll be asked to grant KeyClu permission to access keyboard shortcuts for your apps. After this, you can start using the app. I usually ignore the app until I wonder if a shortcut exists for a particular function. I launch the app, browse the list of shortcuts, and select the available ones. When I release the trigger key, the window disappears.
This floating window is convenient by default, but you might want the window with the shortcut list to remain open even after you release the trigger. This is where the persistent toolbar comes in. This window, which can be opened from the menu bar, stays open and always displays the shortcut list for the currently active application. If desired, you can add a separate shortcut for this window in the settings.
By digging into KeyClu’s settings, you can customize the layout of both pop-up and persistent panels, change the size of windows, the number of columns by which shortcuts are sorted, and the displays on which panels are displayed.
It’s a simple program, but it’s completely free and will help you improve your computer skills. And if you’re a Lifehacker reader, it’s probably just what you need.
