Here’s When You Can Buy the New Samsung “TriFold” Smartphone.

Foldable smartphones once seemed futuristic. The idea of unfolding a smartphone to reveal a tablet-sized display was too far-fetched to be realized. Of course, today, foldable devices are not only a reality, but also offer a wide range of models to choose from. Samsung released its first Galaxy Z Fold back in 2019 , and while the foldable smartphone market isn’t as developed as traditional smartphones, they could very well be a great option for those who aren’t put off by a steep suggested retail price.
On Monday, Samsung unveiled its latest foldable smartphone : the Galaxy Z TriFold. Unlike the Z Fold, however, this device features three displays rather than two. The aptly named TriFold opens twice, revealing “one” large 10-inch display. That’s two inches larger than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 when unfolded.
Samsung claims that when fully unfolded, the TriFold performs like three 6.5-inch smartphones side by side. The company gives several examples of how this screen space can be used: three windows with the same design can be open simultaneously; two windows—one smaller and one larger; or one large window with several custom elements on the screen. You can also watch videos on platforms like YouTube while reading comments.
The TriFold also functions as a dedicated Samsung DeX workstation. You can use it as a miniature personal computer, storing up to four workspaces, each with five applications running simultaneously. This means you can switch between up to 20 applications running simultaneously across four preset workspaces. You can also connect the TriFold to an external monitor and use a mouse and keyboard for a more traditional desktop experience.
Samsung says the TriFold uses an “advanced” version of its Armor FlexHinge to support the new three displays. It uses two differently sized hinges to stabilize the fold and reduce the gap between them, as well as a thin metal plate to protect the folding mechanism. This design prevents the displays from actually touching when closed, which should reduce the risk of cracks and damage.

When will the Galaxy Z TriFold go on sale?
Again, this isn’t a concept or a prototype: the TriFold is almost ready for launch. Customers in South Korea will be the first to try the TriFold, as Samsung plans to release it on December 12th.
This is the only precise release date for the TriFold known to Samsung, but that doesn’t mean the rest of the world is in the dark. Samsung says users in China, Taiwan, Singapore, and the UAE will get access shortly after the December 12 release, while those in the US will be able to get it in the first quarter of 2026.
Release dates are subject to change, but if Samsung sticks to its plan, we could see the TriFold here by the end of March. The US price is still unknown, but the Korean price is: 3,590,400 Korean won. That’s just under $2,450. For reference, the Z Fold 7 costs $1,999.99.
