The digital notepad market has three main players: Boox, reMarkable, and Supernote, but this year a new competitor emerged and quickly became one of them: Viwoods. Thanks to Kickstarter, the startup released its first product earlier this year— the Viwoods AiPaper , a 10.65-inch e-ink notepad positioned as an AI-powered productivity device.
I was skeptical—nothing catches my eye faster than a product being sold solely on its AI features —but I was impressed . Viwoods immediately released one of the best digital notebooks on the market , and right now you can get it for $80 off on Black Friday.
Excellent performance and smart software
The AiPaper features a Carta 1300 display—the latest e-ink technology, the same as the Kindle Paperwhite—with a 2560 x 1920 resolution and 300 ppi density. The matte screen has a subtle texture, making it a pleasure to write on with the newly updated Viwoods EMR stylus.
The device is equipped with an octa-core 2 GHz processor (the exact processor is unknown), 4 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of internal storage, which is comparable to other e-ink laptops. The 4100 mAh battery should last about a week with regular use. The device is 4.5 mm thick and weighs approximately 370 g, making it comfortable to carry without feeling flimsy or fragile.
Really useful AI integration
There’s a small “Ai” button on the bottom bar of AiPaper. Tap it to start a conversation with ChatGPT. Each native app also has an on-screen version of this button with several options:

The Content Analysis feature sends a screenshot of everything on the screen to ChatGPT, which describes or summarizes it.

The Generate Email feature will attempt to convert the text on your screen into a message that you can then copy into your chosen email app with one tap.

AI Text Converter will turn your handwritten text into copyable text and provide descriptions for any images along the way.

The AI assistant opens the chatbot and attaches a screenshot of what is displayed on the screen.

Customize allows you to create your own frequently used AI prompts so you don’t have to enter them every time.
I’m very impressed with how Viwoods has implemented AI integration. Incorporating AI into every program makes it much easier and more convenient to use, if you’re the type who likes to use AI everywhere. (I’m not.)
Electronic reading and applications too
App integration means you can use AiPaper as an e-reader, using either the built-in document reader or your favorite app—with a little setup, you can download almost any app from the Google Play store. The crisp, responsive screen makes it a pleasant alternative to the Kindle, and the large display is great for displaying black-and-white comics and manga.
