How to Get Money Back for Cyberpunk 2077
After 8 years of development and numerous delays, Cyberpunk 2077 finally came out last week. One of the most anticipated video game releases of 2020, it sold over 4.72 million copies on PC alone in its first 24 hours, breaking multiple sales records.
Then people really started playing the game, and the tone shifted from hype to horror.
Players expected the immersive sci-fi world of cyberpunk on par with the beloved fantasy RPG The Witcher 3 from developer CD Projekt Red ; instead, they got an unpolished game that does not perform well on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and modest PC hardware. But even on platforms powerful enough to play the game smoothly, Cyberpunk 2077 is riddled with bugs. A little bit of open-world annoyance is normal for a game as large and detailed as this, but it’s a mess on launch day.
CD Projekt Red has since apologized for the poor launch quality of Cyberpunk 2077 and said it is working on post-release patches to improve gameplay performance and reduce bugs. However, the company says the patches will not make the PS4 and Xbox One version look “like it runs on a high-spec PC or next-gen consoles, but it will be closer to that experience than it is now.”
What’s more, the developer encourages players to ask for refunds if they are unhappy with their experience with Cyberpunk 2077. I can’t remember the last time a game developer suggested this , but here we are. If you are unhappy with a Cyberpunk customer, the company has created a dedicated email address that you can contact to get help getting a full refund for your game.
However, you will first want to request a refund for digital copies using the links below, or by returning any boxed copy to the store you bought it from.
- Microsoft Store (Xbox One)
- PSN Store (PS4)
- Steam (PC)
- GOG (PC)
Please note that digital refunds are usually limited to newly purchased games that have been played for less than two hours, but some users report refunds even if they’ve played longer. Also note that many online retailers such as Amazon and Walmart have extended the return period for items purchased during the holiday season , which may help you get a refund if you receive a free copy of Cyberpunk 2077 .
If you have any problems getting a refund, you will want to email the dedicated CD Projekt RED support team at [email protected] to see if they can help. You have until December 21st to ask them for help, so don’t waste time.
