If you ship a lot of packages, you know how tedious it can be. Whether you’re a small business owner, use resale platforms, or have family members living far away, waiting at the post office is a chore. That’s why I’m finally buying my own label printer, since this one is on sale for Prime Day. For a reseller, that’s long gone.

A few weeks ago, for the first time in a decade, the online resale platform Poshmark lowered its shipping rates . As a dedicated reseller , I was both excited and concerned. On the one hand, buyers are more likely to buy if they spend less, meaning my listings are more likely to sell. On the other hand, this also meant that instead of access to free USPS Priority Post envelopes, I’d have to source all my own packaging materials and spend more money.

Still, I bought a bunch of plastic envelopes and continued packing them at home before taking them to the USPS, where they were labeled, scanned, and mailed. But I figured: since I’m now doing the packing and shipping myself, why not take it a step further? I started to consider hiring a label maker to print my own labels, making daily trips to the post office a thing of the past. However, when I searched for printers on Amazon, I remembered why I didn’t do that in the first place: they’re expensive. Around $80, $100.

I added a best-selling label printer to my cart and waited for the price to drop, but that day never came… until today. The Phomemo Bluetooth thermal printer is now $70, down from $110. I haven’t used it yet, but it has a nearly 5-star rating based on over 2,000 reviews. Plus, it’s a brand I’ve heard of, which doesn’t necessarily mean it’s quality, but when I’m scrolling through pages of meaningless brand names on Amazon, it’s comforting to see someone I know. (Compare it, for example, to another one I found for $40 from a brand I’ve never heard of and which has far fewer reviews.)

This printer prints labels from your phone or computer and supports a variety of sizes (though it obviously specializes in standard mailing labels). It uses a heat press rather than ink or toner, which will save me money in the long run. I’ve already spoken with my postman, Justin (with whom I have a good relationship, as I’m not just a seller but a regular customer), and once the printer is up and running, he’ll be picking up my outgoing packages, eliminating the need for me to go to the post office every day.
