Anker has expanded its brand over the years, starting with chargers. Now they’re making excellent portable projectors, and their smallest portable projector, the Nebula Capsule Air, is now on sale to Prime subscribers for just $249.99 (originally $399.99) after a $150 discount during the October Prime Day sale . According to price tracking tools , this is the lowest price ever for this portable projector.
Portable projectors should operate independently of an outlet and be easy to carry. The Nebula Capsule Air does both, measuring just 5.5 x 2.7 x 2.7 inches (H x W x D)—slightly larger than a typical soda can. The battery isn’t particularly powerful, but considering its size, two hours is plenty (most movies can be watched in one sitting). This projector isn’t particularly bright, reaching only 150 ANSI lumens. This means you’ll need a darkened room to see a good image. If you have ambient light and plan to use this projector, the image may be washed out. The native resolution is also only 720p, though it supports 1080p input in HDR.
PCMag gave this projector an “Excellent” rating in its review , noting that HDR significantly improves shadow detail, praising the Google TV operating system (which I really like—it makes it easy to mirror my phone to the projector), and praising the swivel stand, which makes it easy to position the image on a screen, wall, or ceiling.
Portable projectors require good keystone correction; by their very nature, they frequently move, causing the image to be constantly out of focus. The Nebula Capsule Air features excellent keystone correction, autofocus, and automatic horizontal and vertical adjustment.
