If you’ve never considered a Kindle Kids e-reader because of the name, you’re missing out on some sweet perks. Amazon’s 16GB Kindle Paperwhite Kids is now $134.99 (originally $179.99)—its lowest price ever, according to price tracking tools . This is one of many Prime Day deals from early October , including Kindle bundles , that are still going strong. That’s why it’s a great deal for everyone, not just kids.
The Kindle Kids Edition includes a free case (approximately $30), ad-free reading ($20), a six-month Amazon Kindle Kids+ subscription ($36), and a two-year warranty (versus the standard version’s one-year warranty). All of this is $20 cheaper than the adult version , which is a no-brainer.
The cases for these models are obviously designed specifically for children, but it’s hard to argue with the free ones. Your Amazon Kindle Kids+ subscription will be automatically deducted after the first six months, but you can cancel it early. These Kindle models have kid mode enabled by default. It can be easily disabled in the settings, but then ads will appear on the lock screen again. Kindle Kids also has several interesting features that even adults will appreciate, such as the rewards feature, which is discussed in this video .
With a six-month subscription to Amazon Kindle Kids+, you’ll get unlimited access to thousands of children’s books, including the entire Harry Potter series. The Kindle Paperwhite is just like the adult version: it’s waterproof, features adjustable backlighting, a 12-week battery life, and voice control via Bluetooth.
