Samsung is used to releasing several Galaxy S smartphones each year, but the Galaxy S25 Edge is something special. Unveiled in January alongside the S25, S25+, and Ultra , the Edge is the thinnest Galaxy S smartphone to date. The 256GB model is currently listed on Amazon for $699.99 (the lowest price ever, according to price trackers), making it the most affordable model in Samsung’s flagship lineup.
At just 0.23 inches (6.7 mm) thick, the smartphone feels noticeably thinner without sacrificing durability. A titanium frame, paired with Gorilla Ceramic 2 on the front and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back, ensures durability, while the IP68 rating ensures protection from dust and water.
What makes the Edge compelling is that it matches the rest of the series in performance, despite its thinner body and smaller 3,900 mAh battery. The Galaxy’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and 12GB of RAM ensure smooth multitasking, whether gaming at 60 frames per second or editing 8K video. Even with the smallest battery in the lineup, the Edge outperforms its siblings, lasting over 16 hours in PCMag’s video streaming tests —longer than the S25, S25+, and Ultra . Additionally, the 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a 3120 x 1440 resolution is bright and crisp, and the 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and gaming smooth.
Finally, Samsung’s Galaxy AI features and One UI 7 on top of Android 15 add extra polish, and seven years of promised updates also mean the phone will stay relevant for a long time. However, the Edge doesn’t check all the boxes. Unlike the S25+ or Ultra , it lacks a telephoto lens, limiting zoom to 2x optical quality and 10x digital. Stereo speakers sound thin, and wired charging maxes out at 25W—half that of its siblings. If these details are important, the $899.99 S25+ or $1,075 Ultra are better options. But if you want a slim, premium Android smartphone that balances power, battery life, and future-proof software, the Galaxy S25 Edge makes a compelling case, especially at this price.
