Yesterday, at the Meta Connect 2025 conference, Meta finally unveiled its first Ray-Ban smart glasses with a display inside. I’ve yet to try them out, but as my colleagues at CNET say, seeing is believing . If you’re looking to schedule a demo of the new Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, you’re in luck: they’re rolling out in select stores nationwide, and you can book an appointment now. In fact, you’ll have to if you actually want to take the glasses home.

What are Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses?

The Ray-Ban Display smart glasses from Meta are similar to the smart glasses both companies have been releasing since 2021, but if the name didn’t give it away, they now feature a screen. They’re not augmented reality, so there’s no head tracking or large virtual display positioned around your surroundings. Instead, there’s a small 600×600 pixel screen above the right eye that can be used, for example, to check messages or scroll through your Instagram feed. Furthermore, according to my colleagues at CNET, the glasses are privacy-friendly, as the clever design prevents the display from being visible to others through the clear lens.

And for navigating content, the kit includes a special “neural bracelet” that can detect thumb movements, pinches, etc., and convert them into swipes and taps.

It sounds enticing—dare I say “innovative”?—even despite the $799 price tag (the previous generation of Ray-Ban Meta smartglasses cost $379). But if you’re going to spend that much on such an untested product, I don’t blame you for wanting to try it before you buy. And it looks like the Meta will, too.

How to try Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses

Although Ray-Ban Display Smart Glasses from Meta technically begin shipping on September 30, you can’t buy them online. Instead, you’ll need to try them out in-store before receiving them. Demos are available at Ray-Ban stores and partners, including LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, and Best Buy. You can order a demo directly from a specific store’s website if you have a favorite, as shown in this Best Buy link . But the best way to see all the demos available near you is to visit the Meta website.

Simply visit this scheduling page on the Meta website and enter your address to see participating stores near you and their demo dates. Then, click “Schedule a Demo” at the selected store to be redirected to that store’s website and complete your booking.

What do you think at the moment?

While I saw appointments starting today on Meta, none of the stores I visited had availability until October, so don’t be surprised if the scheduler data is a little behind.

What do you need to showcase Ray-Ban glasses?

Typically, you can simply visit a Ray-Ban demo stand and feel confident in your abilities. However, if you wear corrective lenses, you’ll need to either wear contact lenses or know the specifications of your lenses. Meta demo kits are designed for vision correction ranging from -4.00 to +4.00, so plan ahead.

All you have to do then is try on the glasses. After that, you can either buy the glasses or wait. If you wait, you’ll be sent an email with your appointment details.

Meta states that it is currently limiting purchases to those who have already tried the demo version to ensure convenience and satisfaction, but that more purchase options will be available “over time.” This is great news for those living outside the US, as demos are currently only available in Meta’s home country. However, the company says that demos will be available in Canada, France, Italy, and the UK in early 2026.
