Update Your Apple Devices ASAP to Fix This Serious Security Vulnerability

If you have an Apple device, check for available security updates right now. The company has released an emergency patch to fix a zero-day vulnerability affecting a huge number of devices running multiple versions of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.

As reported by BleepingComputer , the vulnerability (labeled CVE-2025-43300) is an out-of-bounds write error in the image I/O framework that allows applications to read and write image files. Attackers could exploit this vulnerability to corrupt memory using malicious image files or possibly execute remote code on compromised systems.

According toApple’s information detailing the update , the vulnerability could be used for “highly sophisticated attacks against specific individuals,” though no further details are provided. Still, given the number of affected devices and OS versions, everyone should install the patch as soon as possible.

The patch that Apple is releasing is designed to prevent the exploitation of a zero-day vulnerability in the following OS versions:

  • iPadOS 18.6.2

How to Install a Patch on Your Apple Device

To check for security updates, go to System (or System settings) > General > Software update . If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it.
