You Can Now Use Your ClassPass Points to Buy AMC Movie Tickets

ClassPass , the subscription service best known for its health and fitness offerings, is expanding beyond the gym and into a place typically associated with sitting for hours. This week, the fitness membership platform announced that subscribers can now use their ClassPass points to purchase movie tickets at AMC theaters.
The move is more than just a new perk for members, it signals ClassPass’ changing understanding of health and lifestyle services and the different types of opportunities that could entail.
How to Use ClassPass to Get AMC Tickets
Today, select members can purchase a standard ticket to a 2D movie at participating AMC theaters using their ClassPass app account. The booking process is similar to reserving a spot in a Pilates class: Users can view showtimes and use points to purchase tickets.
The movie ticketing feature is currently only available in California, Florida, Texas, and Arizona, but ClassPass plans to expand the offering to more markets in the coming months.
Fritz Lanman, CEO of Playlist (ClassPass’ parent company), explains the philosophy behind the expansion: “Every consumer defines wellbeing differently, and our mission is to provide a wide range of options that meet those needs.” It’s worth noting that the launch of movie ticket sales this week coincides with a major restructuring that saw Mindbody , ClassPass and Booker merge under a new parent brand, Playlist , earlier this year.
What this could mean for the future of ClassPass
This broader interpretation of “health” is a good one. Other recent additions to the ClassPass ecosystem include SunLife Organics stores in 10 major U.S. cities, which add food and beverage options to the membership model. The company has also begun offering beauty services , which I think is a no-brainer for the brand.
While ClassPass continues to reinvent itself as a “healthy lifestyle platform,” the addition of movie tickets is a huge selling point. As someone who recently canceled my ClassPass and AMC Stubs A-List accounts, I may reconsider once the ticketing option becomes available in my state.
