AirPods Pro 2

I can’t say enough good things about Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 earbuds . They’re comfortable, they sound great, they have excellent noise cancellation, they automatically lower the volume during calls, they connect to all my Apple devices, and they can double as medical hearing aids if needed. Oh, and they sound absolutely amazing. What’s not to love?

Typically, it’s the price. The AirPods Pro 2 retail for $249, which isn’t the highest price for Bluetooth headphones on the market, but it’s still a significant difference. Luckily, these headphones are often on sale, and during Prime Day, you could get the AirPods for $149, a $100 discount off the original price. Considering the original AirPods cost $169 in 2016, that’s a great price for the Pro.

AirPods 4

If you don’t like the feel of the AirPods Pro’s silicone ear tips, try the AirPods 4. These earbuds are Apple’s classic in-ear design, so they don’t provide a perfect fit. However, these earbuds have a number of “pro” features, such as active noise cancellation, excellent sound quality, sweat resistance, and spatial audio. They’re now only $119 , down from $179, which is a great price for Apple’s excellent earbuds.

If you don’t care about active noise cancellation, you can save even more by picking up a standard pair of AirPods 4 for just $89. (They’re normally $129.)

Sony WF-1000XM5

Let’s break out of the Apple ecosystem. Whether you’re looking for an AirPods alternative for your iPhone or you just don’t have an Apple device, there’s a whole world of headphones worth checking out. Among the best are the Sony WF-1000XM5 .

Sony’s product names aren’t the most memorable, but that’s not the point. The WF-1000XM5s have excellent sound quality and noise cancellation, and you can customize the sound via the Sony app. Reviews also praise the microphones on these headphones, which is great for those who communicate with friends, family, or colleagues through their headphones.

The WF-1000XM5 are usually quite expensive at $299.99, but Amazon has them discounted for just over $100 at $198 .

Google Pixel Buds Pro 2

Google’s Pixel Buds Pro 2 are another expensive pair of earbuds. They retail for $229, but you get a lot for that price. There’s active noise cancellation, sure, but also Google’s AI, which lets you do things like lower the sound quality during calls. (Have you noticed that I’m a big fan of this feature?) The earbuds also boast a long battery life, with eight hours of battery life on a single charge. (The charging case provides up to 30 hours of use.)

If you have a Pixel phone or any other Android device, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are a great buy. On the final day of the Prime Day deal , you can get a pair for $160.55 , which is 30% off the suggested retail price.

Bose Quiet Comfort

Bose was a pioneer in consumer noise cancellation. The company still makes great headphones and earbuds today, and the Bose QuietComforts are no exception. While the noise cancellation isn’t the best Bose has to offer , it’s good, and when combined with solid sound quality and long battery life (8.5 hours!), these earbuds are worth the price, especially on Prime Day.

The pair can be purchased for $129 , down from $179.

What do you think at the moment?

Skullcandy 360 Method

If you like the idea of Bose headphones but aren’t sold on the price, check out the Skullcandy Method 360s. These headphones were co-developed with Bose , making the Method 360s essentially a “budget” version of the QuietComforts.

The Skullcandy Method 360 earbuds charge in a long, cylindrical case, which is unique compared to the compact, pill-shaped cases found on most Bluetooth earbuds. CNET noted that they have the best noise cancellation of any Skullcandy earbud, and the sound quality is very good, although the connection was spotty on the streets of New York City.

A pair of Method 360s is on sale for $75.99 on Prime Day , down from the previous price of $129.99.

Beats Studio Buds+

If you want to get the AirPods Pro experience at the AirPods Pro price (even at the Prime Day price), you should consider the Beats Studio Buds+. PCMag calls these earbuds excellent , praising the bass and treble, noise cancellation (for the price), and integration with both iOS and Google Fast Pair. That makes the Beats Studio Buds+ a good choice for both iPhone and Android.

While the regular retail price for the Beats Studio Buds+ is $169.95, you can get them for $89.95 . That’s comparable to the price of the AirPods 4 without noise cancellation. Not a bad deal at all.

Nothing Ear (a)

But you can find cheaper ones, too. The Nothing’s Ear (a) headphones also feature noise cancellation, provide about five hours of audio playback on a single charge (23 hours with the case), and have ChatGPT integration — if that’s too much for you. PCMag also considers these headphones excellent in a review with a score of 4/5, with the only major downside compared to the competition being the noise cancellation.

But for the price, the noise cancellation may be sufficient. These headphones are now available for $69 , down from $109.
