Stir Hot Chocolate With Peppermint Stick
Whether you’re making hot chocolate from cocoa powder, store-bought mix, or fancy chocolate, you’ll need to stir it at some point. Most people reach for a spoon, and smart people reach for a fork, but during the holidays you should grab a peppermint stick or lollipop.
This is an elegant, albeit fairly obvious move. Peppermint sticks are sticks, after all, and sticks are good for stirring or whipping if you prefer. Peppermint sticks also have a peppermint flavor that tastes good when paired with chocolate. Lollipops work, of course, as even curved sticks can be good stirring tools.
Unless you’re a fan of the chocolate and mint combination, I can’t say what I relate to, but I recommend that you take a look at the alternative stick and cane flavors. There are cinnamon sticks and reeds. There are Oreo lollipops. There are toffee candies. Have you ever been to Cracker Barrel? Their “village” shops offer an embarrassment of different flavored candy sticks in so many cans and they are cheap. (I have a friend who is obsessed with a carnation. She is a very special woman.)
Aside from healthiness and taste, stirring cocoa with a lollipop (or stick) offers something else: quirk. Joy. Fun. Mixing cocoa with sugar, which has turned into a beautiful stick (a miracle of confectionery, if you think about it) is a holiday . Don’t you wanna be festive? Don’t you want to be full of fun, fun and cocoa? Stirring with a lollipop or mint stick is the easiest way to make this dream come true. And that’s all I want for you, my friend. Sweet, funny, sweet dreams.
