New to Prime Day? We’ve got the lowdown on everything you need to know . Sales are accurate at the time of publication, but prices and inventory are always subject to change.
As a marathon runner, I’ve always taken a minimalist (read: cheap) approach to my gear. But when it comes to investing wisely—and maybe even spending money—in running gear, nothing is more important than your shoes.
My favorite pair right now? The Brooks Ghost 16s . They’re a reliable “everyday trainer” that handles fast sprints and slow, long runs equally well. And the Brooks Ghost 16s are on sale for Prime day, dropping from $139.95 to $80.75 ( men’s ) or $99.95 ( women’s ).
What’s more, this deal combines Prime Day savings with another of my favorite thrifting tricks: Always buy last season’s sneakers. Unless you’re a serious racer, there’s rarely a reason to splurge on the newest, coolest sneakers. With the latest Brooks Ghost 17s releasing in May for $150, today’s Prime Day sale is a great opportunity to snag the Brooks Ghost 16s for much less.
Even if you run 20+ miles a week, train for half marathons or marathons, or hit the trails for speedwork, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a high-quality shoe at a more affordable price. The Brooks Ghost 16 is truly my old reliable. (For more, check out my roundup of the best running shoes on the market right now, according to experts.)
