My Favorite Noise-Canceling Headphones Are Selling at an All-Time Low Price on Prime Day

As a frequent flyer and fitness enthusiast, I’m always on the lookout for deals on active noise-canceling (ANC) headphones. There are plenty of great options, like Apple’s AirPods Max ( now on sale ) and Bose QuietComfort headphones (also at an all-time low), but my favorite is the Sony WH-1000 XM5 , which has hit its lowest price yet. ($250 at Costco.) The name doesn’t roll off the tongue, but I assure you these are some of the best ANC headphones on the market right now.
Granted, the Sony XM5 is an older model now that the updated XM6 is available, but I’m okay with buying slightly older gear for a much better price as long as that gear holds up. While the Sony WH-1000 XM6 are arguably the best ANC headphones out there right now, they’re currently $428. The older XM5 sells for $250 at Costco and $298 on Amazon . You might be able to get a comparable price if you really want one on Amazon.
The Sony WH-1000 XM5 received an excellent 4.5 out of 5 rating in a PCMag review , which praised the headphones for their design, sound quality, noise cancellation, on-ear controls, and companion app that lets you customize the equalizer and more. I’ve used this pair of headphones and like their sound quality compared to competing products from Bose and Apple. They’re also fairly lightweight compared to the AirPods Max, but the latter has premium metal ear cups that make them heavier. Some people may prefer them, but I like headphones that are a little lighter and more affordable. If you’re offering great sound quality at a reasonable price, I’d choose these over anything else. PCMag’s review called the Sony XM5s expensive at $400, but at $250, they’re starting to look like an overall stellar deal.
Looking for something else? Retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, and Home Depot are running Prime Day sales that are especially helpful if you don’t have Amazon Prime.
