How to Get Verified on Bluesky

Want to get verified with Bluesky? The company has just made its verification form publicly available , and you can use it to apply for that shiny blue checkmark. This comes about a month after Bluesky first launched its verification program , which focused primarily on third-party verification and Bluesky itself. However, this latest change allows you to apply for verification directly with Bluesky.
Different types of Bluesky check
Unlike X and Instagram, Bluesky does not charge for verification. However, there are three different types of verification on the service, and this can be a bit confusing. The first and easiest type of verification is self-verification on Bluesky. This is available to anyone with a domain name. You can easily link your Bluesky account to a domain , which will change your nickname to the domain name. However, self-verification does not come with a blue check mark.
There are two types of blue checks: a jagged blue check and a simple round one. The jagged blue check is for organizations that have been designated as trusted verifiers. These include Bluesky itself and a few select third-party organizations. When these trusted verifiers assign blue checks to an account, that account receives a round blue check. Bluesky says it verifies all accounts that are verified by third-party organizations.
Who can get tested on Bluesky?
According to the Bluesky Safety account post, you need to have an account that is “active and secure, authentic and visible” if you want to get verified. The company is pretty clear about these things on the verification form. You need to have a full bio, show regular activity on the platform, and have a profile photo. Bluesky also recommends enabling two-factor authentication.
To meet the “authenticity” criterion for verification, you must be a “real person, registered business, organization, or legitimate entity.” Your screen name and screen name must match who you really are (or your business), as your account “must be a unique presence for the person or business it represents.” You should also add a link to your Bluesky account on your official website, as this is also checked for verification.
Finally, to be considered a “famous” account, your account must be important in your field or geographic region, the company says. Bluesky says it looks at things like “professional recognition, media coverage in reputable publications, presence on trusted reference platforms, or other evidence of public interest” to determine significance.
