My Favorite Amazon Deal of the Day: New Amazon Kindle Scribe
Last December saw the release of a new version of Kindle Scribe, an updated version of the classic note-taking e-reader with some nice updates that make the device more enjoyable to use. These upgrades don’t come cheap: prices for the new Kindle Scribe start at $399.99. However, right now the 16GB version is discounted to $324.99 , the 32GB version is $339.99 (originally $419.99), and the 64GB version is $364.99 (originally $449.99).
The original Kindle Scribe first came out in 2022; this first version currently costs $339.99 for the 16GB model, which shows just how good of a deal this is in the long run.
If you already have the 2022 version , there is no point in upgrading. The main difference is that the 2024 version comes with a Premium Pen stylus instead of the Basic Pen stylus. The tablet itself is shorter, narrower and thinner, but not by much (you can even use the same case). The new screen also has a texture that will add more resistance when you write on it and create a more natural feel, and there is less gap between the screen and the outer casing. But that’s where the differences end, at least according to PCMag’s 3.5-star review .
Otherwise, you get the same book-size compatibility, the same 15.3-ounce weight, the same glare-free 300 ppi front-lit screen, and the same 12-week battery life. Both tablets use the same software. However, if you don’t have Scribe at all and are thinking about purchasing one, the newer version is a better option, especially since it is currently cheaper than the older version.
