Bose Ultra Open Headphones Are Now $120 Off

Open-ear headphones are becoming popular, probably because active noise-canceling technology has gotten so good that people have forgotten what nature sounds like. The Ultra Open headphones are Bose’s attempt at trending technology, and they’re worth it. But at their current price of $179.99 (originally $299.99) from Woot, they’re a steal. These headphones have never been below the $200 mark on Amazon , but you can get them “unopened” ( that’s exactly what it sounds like ) from Woot for the lowest price they’ve ever offered, according to price trackers .

Woot only ships to the 48 contiguous US states. If you have Amazon Prime, you get free shipping; otherwise shipping will cost $6.

Open-back headphones are not for everyone, especially audiophiles. They have the same disadvantage as bone conduction headphones , they let in noise pollution and the lows and some mids are weak. But you can hear if a cyclist is about to hit you because you’re running in a bike lane.

The Bose Ultra Open are not waterproof, but they are waterproof with an IPX4 rating , which means they can withstand splashes, but don’t put them under a faucet. There is a wireless charging case that can be purchased separately if you don’t want to use the USB-C connection for charging. You’ll get about 7.5 hours of battery life if you have Immersive Audio turned off, and about two charges with the case, for a total of about 27 hours.

While these headphones don’t have a multipoint connection, they do have the ability to pair two devices at once and switch between them with the press of a button on the earbud—a sort of controlled multipoint connection. They are compatible with Bluetooth 5.3 and work with AAC, AptX Adaptive and SBC codecs , so Android devices will get better sound than Apple users. Both users will be able to adjust the app’s equalizer and use features, which you can read more about in CNET’s review .
