My Favorite Amazon Deal of the Day: Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition
I love Kindle e-readers and have been using them since the first Kindle Paperwhite came out in 2012. Ever since I first laid my hands on one of these, one thing I’ve been looking forward to is the color version. It finally went on sale in November with the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition , which retails for US$229.99 (originally US$279.99), the lowest price since its release, according to price trackers . Here’s what you can expect from Colorsoft.
The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition is exactly what it sounds like: a color Kindle e-reader. It’s essentially the same hardware and design as the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition , with the same dimensions, weight, and 32GB of internal storage. It also has the same features, such as auto-adjusting front light, IPX8 waterproof rating, wireless charging, and an ad-free lock screen that displays either the cover of the book you’re reading or a regular wallpaper. Battery life is shorter than the Paperwhite: eight weeks instead of 12, but still good enough for most people.
According to PCMag’s review , the seven-inch E Ink color display meets the industry standard with a resolution of 300 pixels per inch (ppi) for black-and-white content and 150 pixels per inch for color content. If you love reading comics, this is where Colorsoft Signature Edition comes in. The colors are print newspaper quality and there is a feature that allows you to view each comic panel close up so you can enjoy the art and read it without having to zoom in.
Although the screen is not overly bright (94 nits brightness), the screen reflects glare well. An automatic dimmer is convenient if you are often indoors and outdoors. Personally, I like the warm and cool front light settings as I like to read at night and not have to strain my eyes before bed.
Considering that upgrading to the color version of the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition costs just $29.99 more, this makes it a great deal for anyone who needs a little more color in their life.
