25 New and Returning TV Shows to Add to Your 2025 Watchlist
Real life is in the middle of nowhere at the moment, so I try to let the soothing light of the TV (or tablet, or phone) lull me into a state of peaceful euphoria. However, viewing is not always comfortable: the entertainment industry changes every month, but the choice of TV viewers remains quite wide until 2025. Your favorite show, unless it’s a CBS procedural or reality show, will almost certainly be cancelled. after a season or maybe two, but if we can accept that life is short and television is shorter, we can come to terms with these realities. I start with shows that have firm dates, but work my way through shows that are likely to come out in 2025 but don’t have firm dates.
Traitors , season 3 (January 9)
Impeccably dressed Alan Cumming returns for the third season of the exciting and very campy reality show. Season three contestants include Rob Mariano from Survivor , Daniel Reyes from Big Brother , Real Housewife Dorinda Medley and RuPaul alum Bob the Drag Queen. You can stream Traitors now on Peacock .
Severance , season 2 (January 17)
Apple’s sci-fi satire has been out for a couple of years now, so you may have forgotten that this is the movie in which the employees of Lumon Industries (including Adam Scott’s Mark Scout) split their consciousnesses (well: disconnected) so that their working concepts are not have what their family does, and vice versa. After it was revealed last season that Mark’s wife Gemma (Dichen Lachman) is still alive and working as a consultant at Lumon, he and his colleagues will continue to wonder what the hell they’re all doing there. Watson (January 26)
This medical/mystery film (because: CBS) has a strange but interesting plot: although set in the present, it follows Sherlock Holmes’ pal Dr. John Watson’s return to medicine after the great detective’s supposed death at the hands of his nemesis . . After learning that Moriarty may in fact be alive, Watson finds himself solving mysteries on his own. You can watch Watson on CBS and stream it on Paramount+ .
Paradise (Jan 28)
Sterling K. Brown plays Xavier Collins, once head of security for President Cal Bradford (James Marsden) – and the last person to see him alive. This pulpy political conspiracy thriller comes from Dan Fogelman in his first new show since the end of This Is Us . You’ll be able to stream Paradise on Hulu .
Moe , season two (January 30)
After more than two years, Netflix is bringing back comedian Mo Amer’s slightly autobiographical comedy-drama about a Palestinian refugee living in Texas. The first season of Immigrant Story was heartwarming and fun, and this eight-episode finale could have been the perfect moment. You’ll be able to stream Mo on Netflix .
Clean Slate (February 6)
Laverne Cox plays Desiree, a proud trans woman who returns to her hometown of Mobile, Alabama—and not everyone is ready. George Wallace plays the old-school father with whom she tries to reconnect. This was one of the last projects the late, great Norman Lear was involved with. You’ll be able to stream The Clean Slate on Prime Video .
Cobra Kai , season 6 (February 13)
This is technically the third installment of the sixth season, but the main thing is that it’s the final round for Cobra Kai , a rather shockingly successful (and exciting) update to a franchise that started back in 1984. It would be tempting to call it the end of four decades of martial arts drama, but a new film , The Karate Kid, will already be released in May. You’ll be able to stream Cobra Kai on Netflix .
“Yellowjackets” , Season 3 (February 14)
After last season’s spectacularly gruesome climax, Showtime is using “Eat Your Heart Out” as the tagline for season three, despite all the cannibalism. The main cast (well, those who survived last season) are set to return for season three, joined by Hilary Swank and Joel McHale. You can watch Yellowjackets on Showtime and stream it on Paramount+ (via Showtime) .
White Lotus , Season 3 (February 16)
It’s time for a new generation of extremely obnoxious and privileged Americans to get what’s coming to them, in often hilarious ways, now in Thailand. This time around, the cast includes Carrie Coon, Scott Glenn, Walton Goggins, Leslie Bibb, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey and Lalisa Manobal leading the stacked cast, joined by Natasha Rothwell as Belinda, returning from the first season. Apparently she didn’t learn her lesson. You can watch White Lotus on Max .
Day Zero (February 20)
The premise (a conspiracy involving a global cyber attack) doesn’t tell us much, but this miniseries may be worth a watch for its tight-knit cast led by Robert De Niro and Lizzy Caplan, joined by Angela Bassett, Jesse Plemons, Connie Britton, Joan Allen. , Matthew Modine, Bill Camp, Dan Stevens, Gaby Hoffmann and Clark Gregg. You’ll be able to stream Zero Day on Netflix .
1923 , season 2 (February 23)
The Yellowstone prequel series continues and will likely conclude with a second season. An impressive cast, Jacob (Harrison Ford) and Kara (Helen Mirren) will continue to defend the Dutton Ranch from nasty land magnate Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton). The synopsis promises a “brutal winter” for Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) as well as a difficult journey home after last season’s cliffhanger. You can stream 1923 on Paramount+ .
Los Angeles Suits (February 23)
If you’ve missed nine (!) seasons of the US legal drama, you’re not alone. You may have been less likely to miss the hype surrounding the show when it landed on Netflix and Peacock and became practically the most popular streaming show. This revival led directly to a spin-off starring Stephen Amell ( Arrow ) as a former federal prosecutor heading to Hollywood. Gabriel Macht’s character from the original is set to appear in a few episodes, but no word on a Meghan Markle cameo. You can watch Suits: Los Angeles on NBC and stream it on Peacock the next day.
America (February 23)
Award-winning wildlife producer Mike Gunton ( Planet Earth ) has been working on the series for at least five years, promising unprecedented scale and innovative technology in exploring iconic locations across America, with each episode focusing on a different region. : Atlantic Coast, Mexico, Wild West, Amazon, Frozen North, Gulf Coast, Andes, Caribbean, West Coast and Patagonia. Tom Hanks narrates. You can watch America on NBC and stream it on Peacock .
Daredevil: Born Again (March 4)
Marvel has had a bumpy ride over the last couple of years, but this time we’re seeing a return to some of Netflix’s most successful shows of years past. A long-awaited comeback or a desperate attempt to regain its former glory? We’ll find out! Charlie Cox is back as lawyer/superhero Daredevil, as is Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson’s nemesis Fisk, and Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and Jon Bernthal are also set to return. Residence (March 20)
Shonda Rhimes doesn’t miss a beat, so while we don’t know much about this White House murder mystery, she’s still in the spotlight. Comedy, at least in part, starring Uzo Aduba as Detective Cordelia Capp, along with Randall Park, Giancarlo Esposito, Bronson Pinchot, Isiah Whitlock Jr. and Mary Wiseman. Wolf Hall: Mirror and Light (March 23)
This BBC drama, my personal most anticipated show of 2025, returns to the world of Hillary Mantel’s Wolf Hall trilogy. Following the (spoiler?) execution of Anne Boleyn at the end of the first series (back in 2015), Thomas Cromwell (Mark Rylance) continues to rule the increasingly deadly court of King Henry VIII – with very mixed results. The Last of Us , Season 2 (April)
After an impressive (and impressively disgusting) first season, we’re in for an even more edgy zombie drama. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey return, of course, and are joined by Kaitlyn Dever and Isabela Merced as Abby and Dina, who I’m told fans of the games will recognize. A third season is reportedly already in development. You’ll be able to watch The Last of Us on HBO and stream it on Max .
Andor , season 2 (April 22)
Despite the fact that the first season of Andor was a prequel to a prequel ( Rogue One ), it was the only recent Star Wars project that seemed to actually matter, or at least have any significance. -any reason to exist beyond nostalgia. We don’t know much about the second season, except that Diego Luna returned as the main character for twelve episodes. You can stream Andor on Disney+ .
Iron Heart (June 24)
Dominique Thorne returns as Riri Williams after her role in Wakanda Forever . It’s becoming increasingly difficult to generate excitement for new Marvel series, but the latest, Agatha All Along , was a real triumph, and Thorne was a bright spot in the latest Black Panther film. Marvel says this will mark the end of Phase 5 of the MCU, no matter what it takes. You can stream Ironheart on Disney+ .
Alien: Earth (TBD)
Following the success of the theatrical film Alien: Romulus, the franchise is making the jump to television. The story takes place just a couple of years before the first Alien film. In it, a ragtag group of soldiers encounter a crashed spaceship containing a mysterious threat (likely a xenomorph). This will supposedly be the first time we see our favorite alien killers on Earth, and, promisingly, Noah Hawley ( Fargo , Legion ) is leading the charge. It is expected to fall in the summer. “The Gilded Age” , Season 3 (TBD)
Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Cynthia Nixon and Christine Baranski return to the luxurious, snarky, soapy world of The Gilded Age , joined by the great Andrea Martin as a medium who can supposedly communicate with the dead. Love it. It is expected to fall in the summer. You can watch The Gilded Age on HBO and stream it on Max .
Talamasca Anne Rice (TBD)
Following on from the critical and ratings triumph of Interview with the Vampire and the more modest success of The Witches of Mayfair , AMC returns with Talamasca, about the secret society that oversees both vampires and witches in Anne Rice’s novels. Not much is known at this time, but the film will star William Fichtner and Elizabeth McGovern. You can watch Talamasca on AMC and stream it on AMC+.
Squid Game (TBD)
The second season only came out in December, but creator/writer/director Hwang Dong-hyuk promises that the third and final season, filmed back-to-back with the second season, will release sometime this year. You’ll be able to stream Squid on Netflix .
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds , Season 3 (TBD)
Given the conclusions of Discovery , Picard and Lower Decks , as well as the uncertain fate of Prodigy , 2025 looks like it will be a little less difficult for Trek than recent years. However, Captain Pike and crew are more than capable of holding down the fort, especially if they can find an excuse to do another musical episode. There’s a chance that the next Star Trek series, Starfleet Academy (starring Holly Hunter and Paul Giamatti), will also premiere later this year. You can stream Strange New Worlds on Paramount+ .
This is: Welcome to Derry (TBD)
What, you don’t like clowns? This It prequel reunites Bill Skarsgård, who played Pennywise the Clown in the film, with Stephen King’s Derry. We know that Pennywise was tormenting the city before the events of the films, and the series will reportedly visit 1962, 1935, and 1908 over its planned three seasons.
