CES 2025: New Switchbot Robot Vacuum Cleaner Is Actually a Multi-Tasking Home Assistant

Earlier this year, Switchbot announced the S10 , a robot vacuum and mop that can pull clean water straight from your home’s plumbing to not only clean your floors, but also send the water to a separate humidifier. Today at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Switchbot announcedthe K20+ Pro , a robot vacuum that can carry drinks, fans, air purifiers (and more) around the home on a dedicated platform. Switchbot calls both of these robots “multi-tasking household robots.”

If you have a robot vacuum cleaner, you understand that its presence in your home will become very noticeable. The docking station takes up space, and in most cases the robot vacuums while your family is using the house. The idea that these machines can do more than one job is intriguing and, considering how expensive they often are, economical.

The K20+ Pro is an update to the K10+ , the “mini robot vacuum” I love , and the new version is just an improvement over the original. The K20+ Pro is a powerful robot vacuum cleaner with 15,000 Pa suction power – just the size of your palm. Thanks to such a small stature, it is easier for him to go around chair legs and go into corners. What’s unique about this new version is that the robot can connect to a larger platform—the “FusionPlatform”—and you can use that platform to carry drinks or other items around the house.

The FusionPlatform has a series of holes, ports, and plugs that allow you to attach, connect, or store other items on it. Switchbot will sell a fan, a security camera, and an air purifier with a small table on top that can be docked and then moved around the house. Switchbot even invites you to 3D print your own parts for the FusionPlatform, creating a world of possible accessories and uses. (Platform supports up to 18 lbs.)

Now there are some disadvantages. First, the robot cannot vacuum when the FusionPlatform is connected; to do this, it must undock, and Switchbot is unclear if the platform can be left somewhere or if it needs to be returned to the dock first. In addition, extensions such as the fan and air purifier do not work while the robot is moving, but only when it is stopped.

Secondly, while a robot running an air purifier around the house is great, I’m not entirely sure how useful it actually is. Perhaps the most utilitarian use case is the K20+ Pro Mobile Stand, which will essentially turn the K20+ Pro into one of those human-sized tablet robots that can be controlled remotely.

The third disadvantage is that as you add more and more accessories to FusionPlatform, you have to store them somewhere. And, well, they can really start to add up.

Finally, the K20+ Pro and S10 are not interoperable, meaning the two home robots don’t recognize each other or work together in any way, which seems like a real bug. Anyway, this week Switchbot is releasing an update to the S10 – the S20 Pro – with a number of improvements to what I already considered a competent vacuum cleaner and mop combo.

However, if you’re a true robot fan like me, it’s worth noting that Switchbot has introduced an entire ecosystem of devices that their robots can work with, and a future where robots don’t have just one job, but have deeper tied to your home.

The K20+ Pro is expected to go on sale at the end of March; There is no information about prices at the moment.
