PlayStation VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle Now $250 Off
If you’re a PlayStation fan looking for a VR headset with solid graphics, the PS VR2 is a great choice, especially since the price has now dropped to $349 (from $599.99). It’s not the lightest headset, but it comes with great features, including an OLED display that delivers crisp 2K resolution to each eye at up to 120Hz. It provides a super immersive visual experience with a 110-degree field of view and eye tracking (something usually only seen on more expensive headsets like the Meta Quest Pro ). However, it does have a few compromises, such as minimal padding around the face mask, which can cause discomfort during long gaming sessions. But the visor is adjustable, so you can slide it forward or back for a better fit.
Setting up PlayStation VR2 is easy: just plug the USB-C cable into your PS5, turn on the headset, and the console will automatically detect it. It will then help you adjust your fit, pair your controllers, and set up your play area. Once everything is ready, you can use PS VR2 to play any game on a large virtual screen. You can also use VR2 to play non-VR games on a simulated virtual screen, which is a nice bonus (though it won’t have the 3D effects or motion tracking that VR games have). Just a heads up: VR2 is not compatible with older PS VR games, so if you were hoping to return to that library, that’s not an option. On the plus side, the PS VR2 comes bundled with Sony’s VR game Horizon: Call of the Mountain , a stunning first-person adventure set in the Horizon universe, so there’s a lot to immerse yourself in.
The controllers are reported to be comfortable and feel natural in the hands. However, according to this PCMag review , you’ll only get about three to four hours of use from each controller before you need to charge them, and you can’t charge both controllers at the same time out of the box since there’s only one USB-C. cable included. If you want to charge them together, you’ll have to buy a charging dock for an additional $50, which adds to the overall cost.
