This Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Is on Sale for the Lowest Black Friday Price Ever
The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (12th generation, 2024) is now $129.99 on Black Friday, down from $159.99, the lowest price so far, according to price trackers . It’s a nice upgrade from the base Kindle, featuring a larger 7-inch screen, three color options, adjustable warm and cool front lighting, and a waterproof design ( IPX8 rating ). It comes with 16GB of internal storage, which is more than enough for e-readers, but may feel a little cramped if you’re into audiobooks (for which you’ll need Bluetooth headphones, as this model doesn’t have a headphone jack). Additionally, if you like audiobooks, the Signature Edition with 32GB of storage may be your best option.
The Paperwhite has dual-band Wi-Fi (though there’s still no cellular service) for downloading e-books, audiobooks, and magazines from the Kindle Store. You can also upload your own documents and download third-party apps like Libby to borrow library books. This feature is gradually rolling out to all Kindles thanks to the latest firmware updates. The Paperwhite’s 300 ppi display delivers crisp text, while 16 levels of grayscale make it a great option for classic e-ink reading. However, PCMag’s review notes that the screen has a slightly more yellow tint than the previous generation (not a major issue, but worth mentioning). Another thing to pay attention to is the lock screen ads that appear by default—removing them will cost you an extra $20.
The Paperwhite’s battery life is rated at 12 weeks on a single charge, although how long it actually lasts will depend on your reading habits and brightness settings. At this price, the Paperwhite is excellent value for money, especially for readers who want a waterproof device they can take anywhere. However, if you need more storage space or features like wireless charging, the Signature Edition ($154.99, down from $199.99) may be worth the upgrade.
